Natural setting permeates BDP's Lishui Science Park with green corridors and canals
Having cemented their place in the Chinese market for comprehensive masterplans, BDP are preparing for construction to commence on their latest scheme: Lishui Zijing Technology Enterprise Park. Located just south of Nanjing, the generous park will be built in stages with the first phase estimated for completion at the end of 2014.
This initial phase includes 140,000 sq m of commercial office space, supported by retail units, civic elements and public space. Two key buildings will be the first erected as BDP’s Shanghai office continue their relationship with a local design institute to complete the detail and construction design packages. Focus will be on the envelopes and facades.
Permeability plays a major role in the masterplan, with an existing network of canals and reservoirs integrated into the park. The creation of green corridors adds to this theme and opens the technology complex up to the natural landscape beyond its boundaries. Waterways are also incorporated, snaking around the gently curving building forms.
BDP details: “The masterplan was conceived to respect the contours and context of the site and to integrate the existing network of canals and reservoirs into a cohesive layout, which encourages strong links to the wider city and creates green corridors and permeability throughout the development.”
