Beer brand celebrates the best of Italian culture with The House of Peroni in London
London residents have been flocking to 41 Portland Place over the last few weeks to immerse themselves in a little Italian culture. The House of Peroni is a pop-up of design excellence by creative professionals commissioned by Peroni Nastro Azzuro, showcasing work from established designers and up-and-coming talent in a range of areas from architecture to fashion and cuisine to home interiors. WAN will be visiting The House of Peroni next week for a full review but here are some preview details to keep you going over the weekend…
Designers on display include:
Andrea Morgante: Credited for co-designing the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena, this celebrated architect and product designer is providing work commissioned specifically to be showcased in The House in July, as well as hosting a unique discussion around the influence of Italy on the London skyline.
NEON: Young design studio NEON have created NEON House, an interactive DJ booth created for resident DJ Alessio Natalizia from the band Walls. The design consists of a simple steel cube frame from which radiates 2km of glowing UV fluorescent nylon string. Electronic sensors within the strings respond to human touch, allowing the audience to collaborate with the DJ, creating new sounds and influencing the musical output.
Giacomo Lion: A new-wave, thread installation artist, Giacomo Lion is largely touted by Milanese gallerists as the next big thing and brings his ethereal work to the July residency in the form of geometric thread sculptures and imposing installations.
Carlo Bernardini: The celebrated Italian artist’s futuristic light installations run through the heart of the July residency, which will open its doors to a specially-commissioned, imposing body of contemporary work set against the juxtaposition of the traditional Georgian townhouse interiors seen at 41 Portland Place.
Giovanni Alessi Anghini: Alessi changed the game with their simple yet stylised home-wares, which imbues everyday products with a profoundly simple aesthetic. Rising star Giovanni brings knowledge that spans generations to two workshops to be held within The House and oversees the creation project to be revealed in July.
Piero Lissoni: The celebrated minimalist designer has become a leading figure in his field due to his advocacy of elegantly simple ideas and brings his minimalistic approach to the creation project.
