Exposed concrete and brickwork Beauty Campus keeps costs low and standards high
Beauty brand Amore Pacific has celebrated the completion of a new manufacturing and distribution campus in Seoul, designed by Junglim Architecture. The centre has been designed as a global campus for Amore Pacific whose tagline is the ‘Asian Beauty Creator’.
The design is rooted in a desire to convey the intentions of the brand to both customers and employees, focusing on ‘the culture of beauty’. The eco-friendly space blends elements of symbolism into functional architecture.
The site is located in Osan Gajang industrial complex, 40-50km away from Seoul. The site is placed in the centre of southern metropolitan and adjacent to the megalopolis and Gyeongbu Expressway, and linked to Route 1, the railroad and subway system which makes for excellent accessibility.
Distributing vehicles, visitors and staff circulations are kept separate and the spatial placement of the ground level is arranged regarding the main flow of production. Introducing the concept of SPINE shortens the circulations and connects the spaces seamlessly.
By adopting white exposed concrete and red brick exterior materials, the offices are given a refined and welcoming presence. The production building fits its purpose and by exposing the blocks, it avoids the use of finishes, reducing the cost of construction and maintenance.
For sustainable measures, a reservoir has been installed which enables rainwater recycling. Also, PV panels on the wide roof of the distribution wing takes advantage of solar power. By applying high-efficiency appliances and equipments, energy usage is reduced and sustainable building certification was acquired.
The building is divided into three areas - distribution, manufacturing, and office and support facilities. Also, the manufacturing facilities are arranged from the north to the south in conjunction with the SPINE to secure free space for future expansion.
