Former power station retained and integrated with new scheme

Controversial plans for a major new river-side development in London have been given a green light thanks to the intervention of UK Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott who over-ruled a previous planning refusal. A new “village” will be created comprising 821 homes (both private and affordable), shops, a new transport infrastructure and riverside open space, connecting Lots Road neighbourhood on one side of Chelsea Creek with Chelsea Harbour and Imperial Wharf on the other. The historic Power Station built in 1904 and now decommissioned will be retained and converted into a unique mixed-use (residential, community and commercial) development. Two new residential towers located on either side of the creek entrance have been carefully conceived to form a powerful visual grouping.
