Multi national collaboration provides winning formula
The new New Estonian National Museum to be located on the fringes of the dense side of the city of Tartu, the cultural heart of Estonia, will represent a unique opportunity to design a new cultural institution that represents a nation’s identity. The project was won by a collaboration of three architects, Lina Ghotmeh, Dan Dorell and Tsuyoshi Tane. It will be built upon its own historical context; it appropriates the urban opportunity of the site, (previously an airfield) onto its own roof. It plays a game of existence/disappearance on the different urban scales.
