schmidt hammer lassen wins Karlshamn scheme with WAN Business Information
On Friday it was announced that Danish architecture studio schmidt hammer lassen had won an international competition to design a 5,000 sq m cultural centre and library in Karlshamn, Sweden. The overarching concept for the design was ‘under one roof’, drawing together all of Karlshamn’s cultural elements in a single building.
schmidt hammer lassen architects has been signed up to World Architecture News’ (WAN’s) Business Information Service for several years now and WAN was one of the first sources to list the tender in May 2012.
Lena Baden, Press and Prequalification Officer for schmidt hammer lassen architects explained: “WAN includes almost all competition and tender announcements in Europe and covers a big chunk of the entire world as well. We started subscribing to WAN about three years ago and the staff at WAN has been very helpful and attentive to our requests.
“I search the WAN website only once or twice a week, and therefore I asked if WAN could turn the ads I had already opened a different colour, as I couldn't remember where I had got to the last time I visited the service. To my pleasant surprise, WAN reacted quickly, and the very next day, the ads I opened had turned grey when I closed them again. That's a huge help that I hope many of the other users have benefited from.
“I think the WAN system is easy to administrate and thus rather user-friendly. The projects from all over the world are all described in English on the first click and you have the possibility to read the announcement in the original language on the second click. Very easy. It is also simple to fine tune your searches - if need be with the assistance of the WAN staff. You get a good value for your money, and the WAN services are not expensive.”
In 2012 the WAN Business Information Service issued 9,500 architectural project leads to a plethora of firms across the globe, from international practices to sole traders. Throughout the last year our team has expanded to include a wide range of languages and sources who can efficiently select the most beneficial project leads for each subscriber’s tailored package, delivering a range of personalised tenders five days a week.
