Aedas completes residential units at new eco-resort in Guangdong

This project lies within Xunliao Seaside Resort District which situates at the southern seaside of Huidong, Guangdong province of China. Only 40 miles away from Shenzhen city, the natural geographic condition provides perfect setting for this ecological residential / tourism development.

With a total site area of 320,000 sq m and GFA of 430,000 sq m, the development are created in a form of sea-view hillside villages that weaves through abundant natural landscape features: the sea, the lake, mountains, valleys and islands. A 3,600 sq m clubhouse, semi-detached villas, townhouse villas and stacked townhouse villas with area ranging from 180-280 sq m, were completed by 30th October 2012, as the demonstration zone with site area of 53,000 sq m demonstrating this unique seaside ecological resort ambiance to the public.

The client brief set up two clear and challenging objectives; to maximise sea-view opportunity to all units whenever possible and to create unique ecological resort characters for this south-china seaside development. Beyond the client's initial expectation, all units are successfully designed in a way to gain impressive sea view by means of master planning, levels setting and architectural disposition.

In order to achieve the ecological resort accents, unique architectural spatial planning is created to reinforce the inside and outside spatial relationship, also allowing maximum exposure to the beautiful natural environment context. Distinctive, coherent building forms are created with natural materials such as natural finished stone facing, timber claddings, and white wall renders and relax resort colour palette for all different block types.

Inspired by the organic nature of sea creatures, the clubhouse are designed as an impressive free form animal crawling above the lake at the front landscape garden of the district. Sustainable design is applied throughout the development to further enhance the concept of ecological resort hillside community. Big roof eaves, horizontal shading elements such as extensive balconies, terrace decks, shading louver screens and ample corner windows which not only enable screened sunlight to the interior, gaining comfortable cross ventilation, but also provides a rich in-and-out spatial dialogue which achieves an unique resort destination.
