Nir Ben Natan exclusively invited to imagine bicycle bridge for Givat Shumel, Israel
Nir Ben Natan has unveiled its proposal invited by the Municipality of Givat Shmuel, a town adjacent to Tel Aviv, for the planning of a bicycle bridge at its entrance. The Municipality has a policy of developing the sports and leisure culture of the town, encouraging cycling in the area.
As the town is delineated by busy inter-city roads that do not enable safe cycling along their route, the practice was requested to propose a cycling bridge at the entrance to the town, creating a continuous and closed cycling route.
This will enable bicycle riders who reach the edge of the town and cycle along one side of the road on the pavement to turn around while in one ongoing movement, reaching the other side with no need to stop or be exposed to the dangers of crossing the road.
Nir Ben Natan suggests that the location of the bridge at the entrance to the town is an opportunity for the Municipality to create a renewed urban brand expressing its policy. For this reason the practice has developed the helix mast accentuating the town’s continuity and dynamics. Engineers on the project were Rokach Ashkenazi.
