Deconstructed concrete cube creates a streamlined living space

A large concrete cube is deconstructed to create the Cube House. The lower portion of the cube, the ground floor, is subtracted leaving the bulk of the house appear to hover off the ground sustained with delicate round columns. The kitchen and living area are enclosed by recessed glass sliding doors opening to the garden space. On the second floor, the concrete maintains its density and is broken only by the internal spaces of the bedrooms.

On the third floor the concrete protects a closet and bathroom and an opening in the façade illuminates the master bedroom. The office is a paving stone subtracted from the concrete cube which leads through the entire floor - an opening appearing from one side to another. The garden lies outside of the cube: the cube holds the house within it and deconstructs the volume of the cube itself.
