New state of the art music department for school

Following the success of their recently completed Science Department at Bryanston School, for which they received a BCSE inspiring design award (British Council for School Environments) in February 08, Hopkins Architects have been asked to design a new 'state of the art' Music Department. The new building will feature a three-hundred seat auditorium, recital and teaching spaces, practice rooms and a special modern music department. This will be another challenging commission since the new building will occupy a key position in the stunningly beautiful Dorset site with elevations facing onto the grade 1 listed Norman Shaw Building, the new courtyard terminated by the Science Building, the existing 1960's Coade Hall building and the School's much loved Beech Wood. The project will also include a refurbishment to Coade Hall and provide a lightweight cover to the school's amphitheatre.

Hopkins Architects won the 'Inspiring Design Award - Best Extension to a Secondary School' for the Sanger Building for Science and Mathematics at Bryanston School in Dorset. Currently the practice is working on the Building Schools for the Future projects with the aim of maintaining the highest levels of design quality and sustainability to ensure future generations of children have the best school environments.
