Travel to Zambia next summer with Orkidstudio and be part of Mutende Project II
Orkidstudio is a UK-based non-profit humanitarian design organisation that specialises in collaborations with volunteers and small communities around the world on craftsmanship and architecture projects to better living conditions.
Earlier this year, the team at Orkidstudio and a number of volunteers travelled to Zambia to instigate The Mutende Project I, a two-week design and build workshop which saw the Mutende community realise a new chicken shed on the foundations of an old derelict egg-laying house. Once completed, the new facility had controlled heating, a storeroom and split-door access, enabling the Mutende community to begin generating an income from their chicken eggs.
The team are planning to return to Zambia in the summer of 2013 and are looking for willing volunteers to join them. The images to the left show just what can be achieved with a little creativity and passion, so please get in contact with the Orkidstudio team if you want to be part of The Mutende Project II. The details are as follows:
In support of the Mutende Children’s Village and Harold Mwenge Memorial Academy near Chingola, the project will focus on the design and build of a new hall space for the school that can be sub-divided into classroom spaces.
Following the huge success of The Mutende Project I in Easter of this year, we are now looking for people bursting with creativity and a passion to help others to join us on this exciting new venture. To find out more and apply, please visit www.orkidstudio.co.uk/#/volunteer and download the PDF application form.
Please note that applicants must be over the age of 18 and the deadline for all applications is midday on Saturday 24 November 2012. If you have any further questions regarding the project or about anything else please do not hesitate to get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org
