Koncept converts former office block into a uniqe shopping experience 

Words such as ‘quirkiness’, ‘intelligence’ and ‘passion’ guided the design of the project with the intention of creating a meeting space, not yet another shopping mall. Mood Stockholm is located in a converted 1970s office block in central Stockholm, with 11,200 sq m stretching across three floors. The master plan for MOOD Stockholm is based on detailed analysis of people’s movements in the surrounding area. The position of the entrances link up with the pedestrian flow, and clearly differ from one another in expression. MOOD is zoned into Wishing, Desire and Everyday.

Wishing offers a quirky, young and vibrant style with a giant, white statue of a girl shouldering the building at one of the entrances. Granite flooring creates an extension of the surrounding streets. Shop fronts with a muted colour scheme, rendered walls, visible fittings, subdued lighting in the food court, and graffiti artwork bring a contemporary roughness to this zone. Desire calls for a more exclusive feel, with brighter, pastel colours, an open, gabled glass roof and a gem of an Asian restaurant leading out to the garden. Everyday is the largest zone with a spectacular, inter-active LED sky artwork of patterns and rhythm deriving from colour and movement within MOOD.

The corner of the building is cut, creating a piazza with an overhanging roof. This zone stretches over three levels and the shop fronts are contrasting and brightly colored. Off the glass-covered main courtyard is a lush garden with tree houses, which can be booked for meetings. In addition to the architecture, sound and smell concepts, specific for each of the zones, enhance the multi-sensory experience of MOOD.

MOOD Stockholm is the first new retail destination in the capital for over 20 years and delivers a truly unique concept, completely different from traditional shopping malls. Rather than competing in the existing retail landscape, MOOD goes beyond, complementing it. Avoiding the more traditional approach of a retail anchor, the restaurants attract the public amid a setting of diversity and urban arhythm. MOOD Stockholm exhibits a singular attention to detail and an intriguing mix of interior, fashion, beauty, aspirational restaurants, and excellent service. MOOD has sparked an interest in the district as a retail location, inspiring others to invest in the neighbourhood.
