A new headquarters designed for the ultimate experience of the B/S/H/ brand and a unique work environment

Bosch Siemens Hausgeräte (B/S/H/) brings five of the top brands in household appliances – Bosch, Siemens, Gaggenau, Neff and Constructa – together under one roof in the first building completed at Park 20|20, The Netherland’s first Cradle to Cradle®-inspired development. The objective was to create one culture, one brand and one vision, while also maintaining the integrity of each of the five individual brands.

The building, designed by William McDonough + Partners, exemplifies the latest in sustainable thinking, featuring a full-height, four-storey atrium with an indoor / outdoor Living Green Wall and Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) roof that maximises energy and daylighting to showrooms that can be converted to offices as needed. High efficiency LED lighting, daylight dimming sensors, and rooftop solar panels result in integrated systems that perform 53% above conventional building standards, and are 39% more efficient than current code compliant buildings.

Slimbouwen technology, which employs a panelised structural floor system with separate prefabricated services, is incorporated to reduce volume, waste and construction time while allowing further flexibility and demountability. Interior spaces were designed with D/DOCK Amsterdam to encourage occupant well-being through individual user controls, fresh air, sunlight and materials assessments to ensure that safe and healthy products are used throughout the construction and use of the building.

The first two floors house a cooking school, an auditorium, a restaurant and coffee bar and the Experience Centre, where each brand has a publicly accessible showroom. Offices on the two top floors are designed according to the ‘new way of working’ principle. Zones comprised of flexible, alternative workplaces are located around a central ‘hub’ of community functions such as meeting rooms, a coffee corner, concentration spots and informal working and meeting areas. Management is also located here so they can stay in close contact with their employees at (literally) the core of the company.
