WAN talks to Daniel about the importance of sharing global knowledge on city design

With just a few days to go until World Architecture Day, WAN caught up with Daniel Libeskind, who gave his emphatic support for the event. Speaking to Michael Hammond from New York last night, the architect underlined the importance of the event's main theme: 'Architects are city changers'.

“Bringing citizens, architects and experts together is the key to creativity. Although each city faces its own challenges, it is crucial for people around the world to come together since everyone can bring their own insights and relevant experiences,” said Libeskind.

“We need to rethink how we approach a city that has lost much of its population and industry, so that we can recreate a sense of place that is meaningful. We also need to rethink our sense of space instead of just extending it. Using new technologies, we can now create interstitial spaces at higher altitudes, through connecting apexes and bridging buildings with park-like areas."
