Unitech have appointed RMJM to design India's international convention and exhibition centre in Kolkatta. The convention centre, on a 100-acre site on the eastern outskirts of the city, will cater for international exhibitions and conventions of up to 2000 delegates. The project, one of the largest planned mixed-use developments in the country, will include a 5-star and 4-star hotel, serviced apartments, and office and retail space. Gordon Affleck, Design Director with RMJM Hong Kong commented: "The primary role of the Convention Centre is to communicate not only with those using it, but to communicate with the surrounding environment. The exterior of the building includes giant projection screens that will be used to display live events and speeches occurring within the centre or at the public cultural plaza."
