Italian lighting manufacturer Artemide has launched a new “white light” product range that enables users to control intensity and colour temperature.

The benefits of white light are well known and wide ranging. Applications could include healthcare, office and residential projects. The new range, My White Light has sophisticated controls can be set to a profile which changes the balance at different times of day – creating a natural light cycle for occupants.

My White Light uses RGB florescent sources. The innovative aspect is the ability to fuse red, green and blue in varying proportions. All the infinite tones of white light allows the user to define various intensities and colour temperatures. If required, the controls can also be used to create atmospheres and moods in various colour but the manufacturers stress this is not the primary objective of the product range. The new technology is delivered by an extensive range of lighting products including free standing and ceiling fixed units.

This innovative venture was born from an international research project involving some of the world’s top designers and architects and leading experts from various scientific fields such as medicine, biology, psychology and anthropology co-ordinated by architect Carlotta de Bevilacqua and Paolo Inghilleri from the University of Milan.
