The fourth of seven groundbreaking Idea Stores has been opened in London. Each has a distinctive look designed to inject a breath of fresh air into the conventional library concept and engage with the local community. The first Idea Store opened in 2002. Located at the heart of the historic Roman Road it has delivered a major new leisure and learning facility for the area. Architect David Adjaye said, 'As a person of colour, I read the landscape to make architecture with a double consciousness that can be seen in different ways by different people. That gives me a way to look at architecture that is different from my contemporaries.' Idea Store Chrisp Street was funded by London Borough of Tower Hamlets, Leaside Regeneration, Lloyds of London Charities Trust and UK Online.
