LDA Design commissioned to landscape a major new Mumbai luxury residential scheme
LDA Design has recently been commissioned to create an extensive, multi-stage landscape design for a $2 billion major residential scheme in Mumbai, India. The premium proposal within the west Worli district of Mumbai, by Indian developers Omkar, is in the heart of Mumbai and marks LDA Design's first large-scale landscape project in the region.
LDA Design's commission consists of three individual towers, each reaching over 300 metres in height, with large triplex penthouses at the very top, incorporating outdoor gardens. The scheme includes a 4- acre area of lush landscaped podium above a 12-storey car park with swimming pools, cricket nets, an amphitheatre, and an innovative skywalk through the tree canopy. The surrounding ground floor landscape will feature waterfalls and a sales pavilion, which will open in September 2012.
Kirk Nelson, Director at LDA Design said: "The concept is being designed in a strong contemporary style, making use of leading edge CNC technology and 3D modelling to create a world class landscape. The concept builds on the history and heritage of Mumbai using the linked-island geography and textiles of Worli to inspire the scheme."
LDA are an independent design, environment, and energy consultancy founded in 1979, who work in planning and designing. They are currently working closely with architect Foster & Partners and the interior designers HBA London to design and deliver the scheme. The project is due for completion in October 2016.
