WCN to be launched at World Architecture Day London
WAN is delighted to be a founding partner of an exciting new initiative to accelerate the development of sustainable cities. World Cities Network (WCN) will bring together technology providers, real estate developers, service providers and city leaders to share and develop practical solutions on how best to plan, fund, and deliver urban development projects. WCN will provide news, education, and relationship building opportunities on a worldwide basis.
"Technology is dramatically changing all parts of our lives including how we live and work in cities. There are tremendous opportunities to harness innovations to develop the urban environment and deliver cities that are better connected, financially successful, and more sustainable. I am excited about supporting the discovery and implementation of the best ideas."
- Brian Kilkelly, CEO, World Cities Network
WCN is being led by Brian Kilkelly who was previously Senior Vice President, Global Partnerships at the Urban Land Institute in London. During his five years at the Institute, he created the Urban Investment Network - a public-private collaboration platform that attracted cities, developers, and investors from across Europe. Previous to ULI, Brian held development roles at Age UK, Marconi, and Ericsson. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce and a graduate of the University of Birmingham.
WCN will be formally launched at World Architecture Day, London on 1 October 2012.
