Rosenbergs' multifunctional hall strengthens the identity of Stockholm's leading exhibition centre

Stockholm International Fairs is one of the world's leading organisers of meetings with 10,000 exhibitors and 1.5 million visitors annually. Rosenbergs Arkitekter has been involved in a number of projects at the site since 1998. Their latest addition is a new multifunctional space intended for conferences and large exhibitions - the AE hall - which has now become one of the main venues for many exhibits, such as the Stockholm Furniture Fair.

Great effort has been made to welcome the visitor from outside, strengthen the identity of the Stockholm International Fairs and offer a well functioning platform for exhibitions and events. The entire building is wrapped in an embossed woven facade screen consisting of roughly 1,500 perforated steel panels and further accentuated by lighting fixtures integrated in the steel structure. A pond with fountains stretches along almost the full 100 metres of the building. The walls of the pond are clad in expanded metal screens with integrated lighting and sliding gates, revealing entrances to the subterranean parking garage below.

The hall is connected to the existing complex by a gallery which has been extended and completely remediated, with new mirror-like ceilings, lighting, green walls and a glass facade along the entire length of the pond. The large exhibition space is very versatile as it can be divided into smaller units, down to the size of a conference room. A more intimate ceiling height is achieved by height-adjustable lighting trusses, which are illuminated by LED fixtures. The illumination planning has been an integral part of the architectonical work. The exhibition halls have a consistent lighting scheme for general exhibition functions, while entrance areas and the gallery feature warmer light as well as event specific lighting with unlimited possibilities to adapt to various scenarios to enhance the exhibition experience.
