Samoo Architects realises the newest landmark for the city of Seongnam
Samoo Architects & Engineers completed the Job World building in May. This site, located adjacent to the two major arteries into the city of Seongnam, suggested a strong symbolic solution to promote this city’s presence. Job World consists of three key precincts; career search, experience area, and the information area as well as the related support facilities.
The programme spaces focus on the outdoor space that relates to the surrounding land and is made available to local residents. The ‘U’ shaped massing is organised in the centre of the site. The Teenagers’ Experience Wing and the Children’s Experience Wing are linked to the Grand Hall which has a distinctive prism shape. The Grand Hall is a dynamic space that takes on much importance.
The centre of the space can be grasped at one time in a way that links the interior to the exterior space. The curved architectural exterior purposely contrasts with the rigid urban context. The metal exterior cladding seems to float lightly above the ground plane.
This architectural expression opens its arms to the outside in a way that welcomes the citizens for special events. The contemporary, almost futuristic forms will create a new landmark for city of Seongnam. The curved architectural exterior purposely contrasts with the rigid urban context. The metal exterior cladding seems to float lightly above the ground plane.
