The glass case which now surrounds the Cutty Sark in fact ruins the view of the lines of the ship. Seems to be a major error in what was a hugely expensive refit. I was personally quite shocked by what a botch had been made of this when I went past the other day. Perhaps it works once you are inside but the view of the ship from the streets of Greenwich has been completely ruined.

A full review of the Cutty Sark Museum

This week, WAN visited Grimshaw Architects and Buro Happold's breathtaking Cutty Sark Museum in London. A full review of the complex architecture and engineering project with interviews from both Grimshaw and Buro Happold will follow in next week's News Review (3 July 2012) but for now, here are some images of the historic ship from Jim Stephenson to whet your appetite...

"It really is an engineering triumph and I think it will set a new benchmark of how historic ships are preserved from now on" - Richard Doughty, Chief Executive of the Cutty Sark Trust.
