David Miller Architects apply for planning permission to redevelop Tote House in Putney
London based practice David Miller Architects has applied for planning permission to redevelop Tote House on Upper Richmond Road in Putney on behalf of developer Wicklow Enterprises.
Aiming to enliven this gateway site through better use, the bold re-design will transform a redundant 1960’s office block into a vibrant and modern mixed use building.
The proposal strips the building back to its concrete frame and remodels it adding a penthouse level. To overcome the existing slab sided appearance the form is altered creating two modulated façades. Projecting columns support the new balconies and façades adding a vertical emphasis.
Ground and first floors provide office spaces of 630sqm whilst three upper floors accommodate 12 two bedroom, two bathroom apartments with balconies. The two new 120sqm penthouses have private terraces.
Combining glazing with white painted cladding, the envelope creates a crisp modern counterpoint to the various styles of building around the site.
