New business hotel in the heart of Bratislava
In the busy centre of Bratislava, close to the main railway station, a new hotel has been built and contributed to its neighbourhood playfulness, variety and colours.
New parts consisting of 5 floors in the east wing and 6 floors in the south wing have been added to the former administrative building. The aim of the architects was to preserve the existing building which had to be adapted for hotel use. It was necessary to meet strict requirements for functionality and effectiveness of the four star hotel. By using a fine division of materials, apertures and colour, the volume and complex architecture and interiors light and airy.
The architecture of the hotel has a modern design, pure and simple outlines characterising the exterior as well as the interiors. Glass and irregular position of different window apertures are typical architecture of the hotel. Also the coloured glass creates interesting contrasts with the Trespa facing and twotone colour plaster. This led to an unique architectural appearance for the hotel which is incorporated into the existing built-up area but it is still conspicuous and perceptible from the distance.
The dominant white colour of the building façade has a colourful accent in the form of glassed panels with an engaging linear pattern. The entrance hall on the ground floor is directly connected with the reception that follows to conference rooms, communication centre, restaurant and administrative part of the hotel. Areas for guests are designed based on client's needs.
All 175 guest rooms are lit through large irregular French windows. Transparent walls connect the bedroom with the bathroom, which are very innovative and interesting. The individuality and character of the guestrooms are completed with Andy Warhol paintings.
The standard of the four star hotel belonging to the Mercure group was achieved by combining the reconstruction and extension of the existing building. The architecture, style and character are emphasised by the hotel which provide comfort and modern services.
