The Fairmont Pittsburgh brings modern luxury to the intersection of Pittsburgh's commercial and cultural corridors

Completed in March 2010, the 185 room hotel celebrates the city’s industrial past and current arts scene. Guided by the theme of ‘Art and Industry’ the design team responded by creating interiors that are reflective and respectful of the local community. A unique project feature is the integration of hundreds of historical artefacts excavated during the building’s construction, connecting the modern guest experience with a glimpse of what life was like on this site over 150 years ago.

The hotel features a restaurant, bar and lobby lounge, a 7,700 sq ft spa and fitness centre and approximately 12,000 sq ft of meeting space, including a 6,000 sq ft divisible ballroom. The entrance, restaurants and meeting space are located on the ground and second floors while hotel rooms are situated on the top 10 floors of the building in order to take advantage of the surrounding views of the Downtown area and the Allegheny and Ohio Rivers.

Sustainable and, where possible, locally produced products were used on the interiors, including recycled gyp board made locally. Bentley carpets were used due to their work on sustainable products. Vanities are topped with Cesar stone as opposed to natural stone. All woods are from sustainable growth forests, ceramic tile is Crossville, made within 500 miles of the project site. Low flow fixtures are in all the bathrooms. All of these design efforts contributed to the LEED Gold certification of the hotel.
