Fractal patterns inspire spatial concept

For the 51st edition of the Salone del Mobile of Milan in April, De Ponte Studio presents the event 'Frammenti' (Fragments) in the Temporary Museum for New Design.

The concept of the event in the La Perla showroom was designed by Silvio De Ponte and based on the idea of Fractal patterns. The idea was the generation of a unique and homogeneous mix, forming great embroidery products and establishing a spatial experience. The Fractal system use constitutes of a component module that is multiplied to generate a new complex and articulated patterning, combining sets of fragments at different scales.

Each Fragment is an essential element of each piece of work, and is an important part of the space. The Fractals create a complex and articulated system, which will be multiplied several times and fragmented. Through the installation, made of multifunctional and articulated surfaces, the idea of architecture and design in a soft form will be explored. The creation of these environments, with new ‘sensorial relations,’ will lead the visitors towards a perceived spatial experience that creates an innovative and harmonic environment.

The space is designed to stimulate sensorial perceptions by the physical qualities of the fractal elements. There will be a mix of natural and artificial factors and materials such as light, sound, touch, water, perfumes, texture and innovative surfaces. New vertical and horizontal surfaces are planned with the most striking materials aiming to promote interest, attention, curiosity and sensual engagement with the space.

Within this environment there will be a collection of objects and products made of stone such as vases, seats and Nest lamps made of metal. Furthermore there will be in the new collection 'braziers', low lamps made from earth, stone and metal.

The event has been designed in collaboration with partnership companies where their products and materials they use will be shown and integrated into exhibition space. They will also be shown in the business exhibition area – dedicated to meetings - in this part there will also be the opportunity of focusing on the products of the companies partners. Products will be shown in great displays as a tri-dimensional 'Mood Board'.
