GLAMOROUS designs new clinic at Tokyo's Hotel New Otani
Because this clinic is situated nearby the atrium of the hotel, where the number of guests passing through is relatively fewer than on the street side, the architects thought that the façade design should be something attractive. Therefore, the façade was adapted and set back from the front line in a symmetrical, curving form.
This creates a beautiful harmony with the natural moiré effect by layers of stainless mesh in pink gold, accentuated by the rhythmical lighting effect by ambient lights on the wall and spot lights from ceiling, bringing a feeling of 'warmth' and 'tenderness' into the space. The façade spreads symmetrically in a soft but powerful arc; a welcoming gesture for visitors inspired by the wings of bird. The façade is designed to be emblematic of the clinc's high quality hospitality.
Interior walls are decorated with wooden panels in varying sizes and colours. Visitors will be surrounded by the comfortable rhythm composed by the softly curving wall and the gradation of wooden square panels in random colours and various sizes. Normally everybody feels a certain strain when they enter the consultation room, but the whole spatial connection from corridor and waiting space to consultation room in the same wall material makes the strain lighter, softening the user experience and enabling guests to take a consultation with more relaxation.
