A-lab's design of the town hall extension in Søgne, Norway.

The international competition brief was to redesign the existing town hall with a new extension and a new municipal library in Søgne, Norway.
A-lab solved the town hall extension by adding a new volume on the top of the existing structure. By shifting the volume towards the east, it created a “canopy” for the new library, together with new roof terraces towards the west (concept sketch). The library walls beneath are made of playful circle segments that contrasts the more rigid form of the town hall extension. The building concept creates new connection between the town plaza on the ground floor. The jury was unanimous in their decision.
First phase of the project design has started.
