The bold new development for the University of Kent which opened to students this autumn is designed by leading British architectural practice RMJM as part of the masterplan for the £50 million Universities at Medway initiative. While the building projects a modern, forward-looking image for the University, it also carefully respects the local buildings and the historic context of the Chatham Maritime World Heritage site and its naval tradition. The £7 million brass-clad, academic building acts as a landmark, announcing the arrival of the University of Kent’s first completed building on the joint campus.
