An inspiring learning environment and a comfortable living space for students
The brief from the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) was to create an interactive learning environment to suit the trend of tertiary education and fast-changing world which would facilitate and enhance the attitude of continual learning beyond classrooms; as well as maintenance of community-orientated and team-based working spirit in the younger generation.
MDIS Residences @ Stirling, the new administration and hostel block developed within MDIS campus is designed for flexibility to suit the changing trade and technology of education. The architecture should be sustainable so as to achieve an environmental-friendly and energy-efficient building and certainly, the green way is the way forward. Spaces within the development were designed to bring indoor learning outdoor and to integrate the new building with existing campus.
The 14-storey Administration and Hostel block for MDIS fulfills two purposes – provide an inspiring learning environment and a comfortable living space for students. Located at Stirling Road, Singapore, the new building is an educational hub within a hostel, allowing for ample interaction and academic discourse both inside and even outside of the classroom. This project is a prime example of 'green' building, with plans for natural ventilation and lighting, rain-harvesting systems and an abundance of greenery to immerse students in nature.
