Amazing. A great reason to work harder.

Barnes Coy Architects complete glass house design in Amagansett

The house is mainly comprised of a glass crescent elevated to "see" above a tall barrier dune towards the Atlantic Ocean. The crescent warps the main interior spaces out allowing peripheral views to the east and west in addition to the dominant view to the south. The crescent is incised with a void containing a terrace producing glass corners that further emphasise views up and down the beach. The terrace void maintains the roof shape of the crescent in the form of flying beams that produce interesting shadows and define this area as a dramatic outdoor room suspended in the sky.

The lower level of the house contains secondary bedrooms with the addition of a glass roofed atrium by which one enters the house and is acquainted with the excitement of the second floor as a destination.

The materials of the house are as maintenance free as possible. The walls are of lime based stucco with an off white hue approaching the colour of the sand. The wood trim is made of plantation teak bleached the colour of driftwood. The stonework is Indian sandstone.
