Waterside hotel completes in Baltimore
Baltimore’s Inner Harbor is home to the landmark Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Baltimore. The new hotel - opened November 2011 - is the focal point of the redevelopment of a six-block area that connects the Inner Harbor with the surrounding residential neighbourhoods.
HKS Hill Glazier Studio is the design architect, with Beatty Harvey & Associates providing architect-of-record services. BraytonHughes Design Studio is the interior designers. The mixed-use facility contains residential, hotel, commercial, entertainment and retail spaces.
The facility includes a 256-key hotel, upscale condominiums, pool, world-class spa, fitness facilities, meeting and banquet spaces, chic retail, and a signature restaurant, bar and lounge. Distinctive building massing will clearly reflect the Four Seasons Hotel’s superb waterside location. The pool and meeting areas will showcase these waterfront views. Many hotel rooms and suites also will feature balconies with direct views of the Inner Harbor.
Robert Glazier, AIA, principal with HKS Hill Glazier Studio, said, “The Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Baltimore, built with superior materials and comprised of well-executed architectural details, will be an example of top-quality workmanship as well as pristine, clean-line design.” Outfitted with floor-to-ceiling windows, guestrooms and suites will showcase harbor views and a contemporary American style. For dining, Wit & Wisdom by Michael Mina serves as a whimsical interpretation of a modern steakhouse tavern inspired by dockside joints from centuries ago.
Other food and beverage outlets include a casual diner-style bistro, a pool bar and grill, and bar and lobby lounge. The 10,000 sq ft spa features 11 treatment rooms, separate men’s and women’s relaxation areas, sauna, and steam. Two pools - one with an infinity edge that appears to spill into the harbor - and a fitness centre round out the leisure offerings. For meetings and events, space includes a 5,300 sq ft grand ballroom, another dividable ballroom, 10 smaller meeting rooms, and an executive boardroom.
