Evergreen Brick Works

Evergreen Brick Works is envisioned as the transformation of an industrial facility, largely abandoned since 1989, into a sustainable village that ties together nature, culture and community. Through adaptive re-use, re-planting of native species, green building design, and ongoing education, discovery and play, the village will demonstrate how nature can be invited back into the City.

A range of diverse activities will breathe new life into the ensemble of industrial heritage buildings, and welcome visitors. These uses include a native plant nursery, discovery centre, Marché, a restaurant, demonstration gardens and unique event spaces set among industrial artifacts. Pathway connections, both east-west and north-south, will invite visitors to move freely between village elements and the Weston Quarry Gardens beyond.

Poised between the downtown core and the Don Valley, Evergreen Brick Works intends to establish itself as a gateway to the extensive, natural network of the ravine system, revealing meaningful connections between the built world and its ecological setting.
