Poorly functioning building does not work for tenants. Elevators are extremely slow, high concrete ceilings (no false ceiling), no sound insulation, no food courts (must access PATH to another building), poorly considered entrances of which there are only three to service thousands of tenants, escalators too narrow (single person only) to PATH, no stairways (should be interesting to watch traffic flow when escalators break down),

Exceptional interior office environment

RBC has become a respected financial services powerhouse by helping its customers think intelligently about the future. The striking new RBC Centre in the heart of downtown Toronto, will represent an important investment in the company's future. &Co , Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates Architects and Planners and Bregman + Hamann Architects work with RBC to develop the design criteria and specifications for the new complex.

Located at the southwest corner of Wellington and Simcoe Streets, the 43-storey RBC Centre will feature a 10-storey, 400,000-square-foot podium; 34 story’s of offices with 250,000-square foot floor plates; 15,000 square feet of retail; and over 400 parking stalls. Details that contribute to the exceptional interior environment include an 18-inch building technology platform throughout which includes under floor air distribution, in-floor plug and play, voice data and power cable distribution, floor-to-floor ceiling glass, HVAC, indirect artificial and natural lighting, and a fully automated daylight harvesting system that comes with blinds and light shelves. This is a list of just some of the numerous green features. The project is targeting LEED silver certification and will enjoy dramatically increased human comfort and a significant decrease in energy and operating costs.
