Lane Crawford Joyce Group completes new HQ

One Island South is the headquarters of fashion retail and brand management powerhouse Lane Crawford Joyce Group that brings together four companies – Lane Crawford, Pedder Group, Joyce and ImagineX Group – to harness the synergies of each business and encourage collaboration across divisions and companies. A clear, singular vision was set down by the Group’s Chairman and CEO, Jennifer Woo, who wanted the comfort and sensibilities of a home environment considerate of the modern world in which we live. Erasing the word 'office' from the Group’s lexicon, she wanted a space that is humble, flexible, comfortable, modern, balanced, conscious and relevant to employees’ lives.

The workspace is located in Aberdeen on Hong Kong’s Southside, in an area of old warehouses, now being likened to New York’s Meatpacking district. The Group has nine floors of a new building, each with a floor plate of 25,000 sq ft. A fluid, democratic, open plan environment was created for communication and collaboration. A partition-free, wireless workspace allows staff to choose their work environment, from communal to solitary to collegial based on their specific needs. Bringing in elements of the business into the workspace, some of these areas are furnished with vintage finds sourced by Lane Crawford’s Home & Lifestyle team.

Some of the unique facilities at the building are breakout areas that allow staff to relax and connect. These include a themed games room with vintage gymnasium equipment juxtaposed with a Wii machine, and an electronics free wellness zone that offers group yoga, Pilates, tai chi and meditation The space also houses a suite of multi-media and ecommerce photography studios, and training rooms to accommodate the Lane Crawford Retail Academy and its calendar of training sessions and workshops. The result is a creative workspace where fashion lives.
