Cambridge Seven Associates Converts Notorious Boston Prison to an Upscale Hotel.

Cambridge Seven Associates has dramatically transformed the historically significant Charles Street Jail into a 298-room upscale hotel in Boston’s Beacon Hill neighborhood. The hotel’s focal point is the restored jail building constructed in 1851, which is considered to be the best example of Boston’s Granite School of Architecture”. With preservation architects, Ann Beha and Associates, Cambridge Seven restored the former jail, which contains a soaring lobby, bar, restaurant, conference rooms and guest rooms and added a new 16-storey tower to house additional guest rooms and hotel service functions. The two buildings are joined by a courtyard garden.
