RMJM Architects design auditorium 

Designed by RMJM this surprising and eye catching building has been the source of inspiration for many other architects. Carefully sited at the heart of the campus this stunning building houses a 500 seat auditorium able to host music venues, seminars, conferences and many other kind of performances. A truly flexible building it can be adapted to accommodate different sizes of audiences.
To perfectly clothe this unusual shape the architects turned to the creativity that is stainless steel and particularly UGITOP, low reflective finish.
“We chose UGITOP stainless steel for the De Haviland Auditorium because it is a material that suited the form of the building, is perceived as high quality, providing a visually distinctive solution which will not radically change its appearance over time”. Colin Moses, Managing Director, RMJM.
UGITOP 43 stainless steel is particularly versatile, suiting curves and providing the architect with the freedom to create a distinctive design. The low reflective surface finish makes for an ideal cladding material which is low maintenance. Installed by Pace Roofing in an interlocking shingle façade and a traditional standing seam system to the roof area. The roof is installed in short trays to draw on the visual effect of the shingles of the wall.
As a building this demonstrates that stainless steel can be used successfully in construction and to dramatic and durable results.
