Concrete waterproofing product protects, maintains and enhances buildings for long-term success

Kryton International Inc.'s Krystol Mortar Admixture (KMA) provides protection against water and waterborne contaminants to concrete masonry units, masonry mortar and rendering/plastering mortar for long-term durability and better appearance.

KMA is a product that protects by reducing both permeability and absorption of the mortar, significantly decreasing building maintenance and repair costs by improving durability and preserving the original appearance. KMA can be added to the masonry units at the point of manufacture or KMA can be added to the masonry or rendering/plastering mortar either on-site or at a pre-bagged mortar supplier.

KMA enhances durability by preventing freeze-thaw degradation and corrosion of embedded steel, and minimizes the chance of debonding. KMA maintains aesthetic features by resisting stains and discolouration caused by efflorescence, mould and mildew.

KMA enhances performance by reducing shrinkage and cracking, self-sealing minor cracking and withstanding water under pressure such as wind-driven rain.

Typically, mortar renders/plasters and masonry walls do not receive treatment, leaving them at risk for damage. The products that are available are mostly surface-applied sealers rather than admixture applications. The admixtures allow products to be easily incorporated into the existing mix design and application processes which are an easier, more cost-effective and longer-lasting alternative to surface applied sealers.

KMA contains Kryton's unique and proven Krystol® technology, which provides superior performance features such as the ability to seal minor cracks and withstand water under pressure. The dry crystalline powder is easily added to the mortar on-site or to concrete masonry units during manufacturing.
