Potential renovators invited for free architect consultations at the Melbourne Home Show
Spiralling design costs and expensive consultation sessions with architecture professionals may be noted as deterrents for prospective investors in small-scale projects, such as renovation or extension work. In a generous move to encourage potential renovators, Australian organisation Archicentre will be enabling individuals to sit down for a free twenty minute consultation session with an architect to discuss their plans and gauge the measure of work (and potential investment) needed to see their ideas through to fruition.
Under the banner ‘Coffee with an Architect’, this free of charge service will be spun out at the Melbourne Home Show from 15th – 17th July 2011. All participants are advised to bring photographs, sketches or items that have inspired them to the consultation sessions to support their ideas and act as a springboard for the architect’s advice. Also on offer over the three day event will be free workshops in renovation design, permits and construction.
If you can’t make it to the event in July, the organisation offers year-round consultations from their Archicentre Accredited Architects for a small fee to residents living in Australia. An Australian Institute of Architects-endorsed professional will visit you onsite to assess your project and provide a thorough Architect’s Advice Report listing the issues uncovered and the potential solutions, along with a broad estimate of costs and additional technical information. All architects working within this programme are unbiased and independent in the advice they supply.
