Luxurious leisure development opens on Dubai's The Palm

Over a period of three years, DSA has been active in the design and Construction Supervision of the One & Only, The Palm. The Project consists of the Manor House, six mansions, four villas, a spa, a welcome centre, a marina restaurant and various ancillary buildings.

At the outset, the project team was conscious that the launch date for the One & Only, the Palm was planned for 10 Oct 2010. This date was non-negotiable and was achieved.

The One & Only is the latest leisure development to open on the Palm. The hotel is divided between land and water-based buildings each with a distinctive style and ambience. On land, the built language is influenced by the Moorish and Andalucían vernacular, with specific reference to the Alhambra, while on the water the architecture is contemporary, incorporating both modern and historic nautical themes.

The site is located at the end of the West Crescent of the Palm and offers 450 m of private beach, uninterrupted views to the Palm, the Jumeirah Beach Waterfront, the Arabian Gulf and a sheltered private bay formed by the end of the Palm rock revetment.

The Hotel encompasses 66 Premiere Rooms (63 sq m), 18 Junior Suites (90 sq m), six Executive Suites (120 sq m) and The Royal Palm Suite (265 sq m) situated in the Manor House, and six low-rise mansions as well as three two-bedroom (345 sq m) and one three-bedroom (450 sq m) villas.

The Manor House also contains the hotel reception, the lobby lounge, two fine dining restaurants and a conference facility. The lobby lounge and restaurants open onto external dining terraces overlooking the 850 sq m main swimming pool which in turn is flanked by six private Pool Cabanas. From the Pool area access is gained via an external Function Area and Wedding Gazebo to the Spa, Beauty and Fitness Center which offer nine private Spa treatment suites with private gardens, a fully equipped gym, a lap pool and a beauty salon.

The six mansions are located on the perimeter of the site allowing direct access and views to the private beach. Each houses between eight and 10 suites on two levels which are accessed via an open entrance courtyard and dedicated reception lobby. Also on the beach front are the four villas. These all include a private pool, outdoor Majlis, private garden and dedicated staff facilities.

On the water, the buildings comprise a marina restaurant with expansive external relaxation and dining terraces, a welcome centre and private marinas for both hotel guests and visitors.
