AukettFitzroyRobinson achieves planning on Southampton office scheme
Leading architect AukettFitzroyRobinson, has received planning consent for a 6,500 sq m office development on behalf of Linden Homes Southern Ltd.
The £8.5 million office scheme is part of ‘New College Campus’, a landmark mixed use project for Linden Homes Southern Ltd. on The Avenue, Southampton.
Located in a prominent position on the main road into Southampton from the north and within a conservation area enriched with a significant screen of trees, the project comprises a residential element, designed by master planners John Thompson & Partners and offices designed by AukettFitzroyRobinson.
The office element will incorporate three pavilions, stepping from three to four storeys, linking the domestic scale of Victorian Villas on one side to the grand scale of a church on the other. The buildings are enriched with balconies, bays and a louvre colonnade to create a rich, layered elevation and to respond to the fine detailing and proportions of surrounding buildings within the conservation area. The palette of materials includes glass, steel, timber and pale sand coloured terracotta panels.
