Nieberg Architects complete the Wilhelm Busch Senior High School in Germany
The renovation and extension of the Wilhelm-Busch-Senior High School in Stadthagen is derived from the structure of the existing building from the 70's. Their grid is adopted and consistently continued. The readability of the structure is a basic idea, which can be found also in the student's hall. The motive of the classical concrete grid ceiling is transformed and spanned with a new glass roof. The building of exposed concrete takes up the materials of the existing building but represents a strong independent element through its massiveness. The school as a place of education is a special responsibility for any planner. Through its uncompromising clarity the design relates to that and produces a high value. The combination of concrete, glass and warm wooden surfaces produces rooms even in the administration area with a great atmosphere.
