Four diverse projects represent the work of Satellite Architects

Satellite Architects is focused on innovative design and concerned with architectural challenges. Their goal is to create exceptionally designed, economically viable projects with a responsibility to the environment. We are a sustainable architecture practice. We do not see sustainability as an added benefit but as an integral part to every project that takes its form depending on the specific concerns of the client and the implications of the site and programme.

The following are four projects that exemplify Satellite's work:

The Cross is a serviced office building in a derelict area of London looking for an injection of energy and landmark buildings to animate the streetscape and contribute to improving the neighbourhood. The twisting, tilting reflective geometry activates the street while offering reflected light to the listed chapel on the neighbouring site. Completed 2002.

Heatherlands is a substantial addition to an existing house in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, notoriously difficult to build in. The addition is meant to take on the form of the landscape and to blend in with its materiality. The building integrates many sustainable elements such as stack ventilation, orientation to protect against the wind and opening to the sun as well as the appropriate amount of thermal mass to encourage consistent temperature. Completed 2011.

The Quaker Meeting House is an exciting design on an urban plot designed to welcome passerbys on the street and to utilise natural light to activate the spaces inside. Satellite is currently talking to James Turrell about collaborating on this project. In Progress.

The Iconic Bridge is a pedestrian and equestrian bridge linking a new industrial and residential area with an existing woodland park. It was designed to become a point of reference for everyone using that route. The intention was to create a bridge that would win a place in the local affection and be a part of a positive shared memory of the city and region. Not realized.
