World class architects give shape to mega project in Las Vegas 

MGM Mirage has assembled a world-class team of designer’s to give shape to Project CityCenter, a sustainable mixed-use project to be located on the city’s famous Strip. The $5 billion project will redefine the city with contemporary-designed projects led by renowned architects, Cesar Pelli, Rafael Vinoly, Sir Norman Fosters, Studio Libeskind, James KM Cheng, Tihany Design and Kohn Pederson Fox. Gensler has been named executive architect for the project. The project, which is halfway through a 20-month design process and is scheduled to open in 2009 will feature a 60-storey, 4,000 room hotel/casino; two 400 room, non-gaming hotels; approximately 500,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment space; and 1,640 units of luxury condominiums. CityCenter is the largest privately financed development in the United States.
