Shortlisted entries announced for V&A Exhibition Road Extension competition
A free exhibition of designs by the seven shortlisted practices in an international competition to visualise a new purpose built gallery for the Victoria and Albert Museum in South Kensington, London.
Last year, the renowned Museum launched the competition to compose a new space in which to host its extensive programme of temporary exhibitions, a public courtyard within the historic facades of the V&A’s Grade I listed buildings and a fresh entranceway on Exhibition Road through the Aston Webb screen as part of the institution’s ongoing FuturePlan redevelopment project.
Director of the V&A, Sir Mark Jones commented: “We are delighted by the quality of the design solutions put forward by the seven shortlisted teams, who are among the most exciting and creative architectural practices working today.” The jury will now visit completed projects by the shortlisted firms and interview their previous clients in order to inform their final decision.
