The £60 million Evelina Hospital which was designed in consultation with its child patients is opening this weekend. It is the first new childrens' hospital to open in London for 100 years.
Work began on the hospital, designed by Hopkins Architects, in March 2003. Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity paid £50 million for the building and £10 million was contributed by the government. The decoration on each floor is themed and the layout and colour schemes for the rooms have been designed in consultation with the young patients.
