Winners announced for 'Spirit of Detroit' competition run by WAN and Buro Happold
Running in parallel with the WAN Think Tank with Buro Happold, the global engineering firm launched an online photography competition to capture the ‘Spirit of Detroit’. During last Wednesday's event, top industry professionals submitted their votes for the image they believed best embodied the feeling of the post-industrial city from blown-up replicas which were hung on the walls for inspiration.
The winning photographs are as follows: Shawn Lee - Dawn of Detroit Jon DeBoer - Detroitism Natasha Lofthouse - Dream, Hope and Love
All three images are currently on display in Newman Street in London’s West End, and as the winner of this international competition, Shawn Lee will be awarded $1,000 to pay for or towards a trip to England’s capital to view the exhibition. He will also be presented with a commemorative print of the stunning image. Jon DeBoer and Natasha Lofthouse will both receive camera equipment worth $250 for their efforts.
Although the competition may be over, the Facebook page will continue to function, with amateur and professional photographers invited to upload their images that capture the spirit of the Motor City.
