Call for submissions: London Festival of Architecture 2008

Individuals, design practices, companies, artists and organisations are invited to contribute submissions for exhibitions, installations, talks, walks, cycle rides, events, parties and more, to form part of the Festival next summer.

LFA2008, which takes place 20 June – 20 July in association with Design for London, is looking for projects on the theme of ‘Fresh’ which demonstrate fresh thinking, fresh ideas, fresh talent, fresh collaborations and fresh cultures within the context of architecture and the built environment in London.

LFA2008 is focused around five Hubs: defined areas of concentrated activity where people will congregate to enjoy events and where the buzz and energy of the Festival will be evident. Each Hub will have its own programme, and events should be capable of sitting within one of the Hubs, or across all of them.

Five key architectural institutions will be involved in delivery of events or as overall Hub Curators: Design for London, The Architecture Foundation, New London Architecture, RIBA London and RIBA Trust.

To submit an event for consideration:

  • Go to www.lfa2008.org to make their event submission which will need to include: title, dates, venue, short description and how the project will be funded
  • Closing date for submissions 30 November 2007
  • LFA2008 encourages cross-disciplinary collaborations that result in dynamic projects
  • LFA2008 will provide contact to main local authority departments but it will be the event organiser’s responsibility to ensure that the project complies with all planning, licensing, and health and safety regulations.
  • All proposals will be considered by LFA2008 local advisory groups, with successful events becoming part of the official LFA2008 programme, promoted in literature, online and in press and marketing campaigns. They will also receive access to the organisers’ section of the website, which will include advice, key contacts and access to the LFA2008 clash diary. All events must be self-funded or sponsored and a registration fee of £500 will be payable to cover support and promotion.
