Woods Bagot designs Barcode - a vibrant dance venue - in south London

Regenerating a disused brick Victorian railway arch, Barcode is designed to bring a vibrant venue to the club scene in Vauxhall, south London. At over 600 square meters, the nightclub provides patrons with a relaxed “neighbourhood” bar in the front half, and a thumping dance club in the back section. These two main areas are separated by a VIP chill out mezzanine level, providing views over the dance floor below. A strong tie between architecture and “the brand” led to the well known Barcode “B” marking the entry and DJ booths - linking this club with its sister location in London’s Soho. The state of the art sound system, complemented with an all LED lighting scheme - so efficient that the entire system can be operated on the same energy as boiling a kettle of water.
