it is more about the location ... rather than the science... hope so..

The most monstrous project I ever seen. Never in history the science is represented on such barbarous forms. Poor science!!!

This is totally a poor copy of Eduardo Souto de Moura's Casa das Historias Paula Rego in Cascais. Make that a very poor copy, that is when you see the carelessly appended wind farm block. I wish I had an emoticon for vomiting.

PIKASCH presents proposal for Centre for Promotion of Science in Belgrade

A science centre and university campus was to be designed in block 39 of Belgrade. From the very start of design process, architecture studio PIKASCH posed the question: What kind of skin can manifest the discoveries of the next decades?

In the 20th century our knowledge of science helped us to achieve very rapid improvements in industries. PIKASCH suggests that ‘these improvements took place so quickly that we failed to consider the impacts of these changes, yet in the 21st century having experienced painful damages of blind industrialisation, new sciences seek solutions of a sustainable modern life’.

The architectural design for the Centre for Promotion of Science in Belgrade is based on the elements air, water, earth and people, and the relationship between humans and the scientific industry. PIKASCH states: “There is a gap between mystical, sometimes even unearthly science, and our everyday life. People do not dare to approach science; scientists do not care about people.”

With their bold design, the studio hopes to aid individuals in their quest to maintain traditions and search for the ‘roots that still connect them to the basic elements’. The proposed design is a city block where the youth get familiar with environmental friendly life in secondary school, university students study green life, scientists explore new energy efficient solutions and visitors learn about sustainability.
